G I V I N G I T A W A Y - P R I N C E S S C E N T U R Y

When Maya and I first met we were lucky to be in the presence of a green lazer beam. We knew pretty much instantly that us three were meant to be. . . I made a video with Maya Postepski AKA Princess Century AKA Austra/Galaxy/Trust with the magical help of Sojourner-Truth Parsons.
Low-fi mood lights, neon cherry bomb explosions, hibiscus tree shadows and opposite games in a black light universe.

ANOTHER THOUSAND MOUNTAINS

I have been working away at making music and sound for this upcoming show. . .
collaborating with Jennifer Castle and Isla Craig and it's been really f u n !
We have been inspired by Janet Jackson,  Buffy Sainte Marie, Joan Armatrading, Matmos, The Supremes, sequins, rainbows, concept albums, field recordings, homemade rattlers and shakers, boomboxes, singing together, and the comedy in our own conversations.
Highlight moments include: Jennifer writing out the lyrics to one of her songs for us... and then me reading those lyrics only to confirm even more deeply what I already knew: Jennifer's songwriting is unbelievably truthful and visionary.  Also, participating in an improv dance workshop led by Margie Gillis, whose total generosity and breadth of artistic understanding was so inspiring. Also, discovering the sound possibilities of everyday places and things, stretching out to include this variety of sound textures and ideas in our show, paring sound concepts down to their most minimal.
Our work has been all-inclusive. We have been experimenting, turning things inside-out and back again until we find what works within the movement and vision that Barb has.
The focus of the show is Barb's choreography and it is very special. It is elegant and gentle and funny and direct and also mystical. This show represents an amazing coming-together of dancers, musicians, artists, women to say something of our moment in time and our perspective going forward.
So Anyway you should come see it if you can.
